Question 1

What source does the QuoteRail demo use today?

Accepted Answer

The public demo currently reads seeded MarketObservation rows for the selected device and condition. These are demo/reference prices for showing the quote flow, not guaranteed live marketplace prices.

Question 2

What will live marketplace pricing mean?

Accepted Answer

The resolver can try a configured live observation source first and use matching observations from that source when they are usable. Live-source availability is an integration and roadmap capability; it is not enabled for every retailer or for the public demo today.

Question 3

How fresh is a QuoteRail price?

Accepted Answer

Usable live observations must match the requested device and condition, be timestamped no more than 24 hours old, and not be future-dated. The quote uses the latest eight recent observations, reports the newest observation timestamp and stream lag, and applies the selected condition multiplier. QuoteRail does not promise a fixed seconds-level freshness SLA.

Question 4

What happens if live pricing is unavailable?

Accepted Answer

Missing live configuration, a timeout (the current resolver limit is 2.5 seconds), a non-2xx response, malformed data, stale data, or data for another device or condition causes a non-throwing fallback to seeded observations. The response labels that source explicitly as seeded.

Question 5

Can QuoteRail quote without either source?

Accepted Answer

No. QuoteRail does not invent a price. When no recent observations are available after the live-to-seeded fallback, GET /api/quote returns a not-found response explaining that there are no recent observations for the selected device and condition.
